Allison Reid graduated with a BA in Theatre Education from the University of NC at Greensboro. While there she spent many hours in both the costume shop and scene shop working on sets and costumes. As a high school Theatre (and English) teacher, she designed costumes and designed and built all sets from the ground up.
After having her first child, Allison discovered a niche that combined her love of design, sewing and construction. From designing her treatments digitally to constructing cornices and beautiful window treatments, Allison is able to utilize her gifts in a way that is both personally satisfying and beneficial for others. Her background in Theatre helps her to “improvise” from time to time, finding ways to create illusions with fabric and coming up with creative solutions for odd situations or requests.
She has written articles for the Custom Home Furnishings Magazine, is a member of WCAA (Triangle Chapter) and is a Charter member of the Workroom Association of America, where she serves on the Speakers Bureau.
In February 2008, Allison was a featured speaker at the Southern Design and Workroom Conference, sponsored by Draperies & Window Coverings Magazine, in Knoxville TN. The national conference featured speakers from around the country and focused on innovation in the design industry and drapery workroom.
